1938 年にクマナ鳥類保護区が国立公園内に設立されました。公園には 255 種以上の鳥類が記録されており、重要な鳥の休息地および繁殖地でもあります。 4 月から 7 月にかけて、クマナコウノトリやヘラサギなどの希少種を含む数万羽の鳥が熊名湿地に移動します。
この公園は、ゾウやその他の野生動物を見るのにも最適な場所です。最も重要な特徴は、コウノトリ、ペリカン、シロトキ、サギ、ヘラサギ、サギなどの鳥にとって主要なアトラクションである 200 ヘクタールのマングローブ湿地である「クマナ ヴィル」です。
