ヤラ国立公園はスリランカで最も訪問者数が多く、インド洋に接する 2 番目に大きな国立公園です。ヤラには、さまざまな固有の生き物だけでなく、固有の生き物も生息しています。最大で鳥類 215 種、哺乳類 44 種、爬虫類 47 種、魚類 21 種、両生類 18 種が生息しています。もちろん、ゾウ、ヒョウ、ジャッカル、ナマケグマ、ワニが含まれます。
